The “organic” label applies to any natural product that has been produced without artificial fertilizers, pesticides or hormones, thus organic garments are those that have been manufactured without chemical products and this is beneficial for the environment and consumers.
The main raw material in the garment industry is cotton and growing it requires enormous amounts of chemical products. Specifically, less than 3% of agricultural land is planted with cotton crops but 20% of all plague control substances and 22% of all insecticides in use are utilized in this 3% of land.
